Through this contract, the developer wishes to provide access to Val de Vie Development via the R45 Provincial Road by building a bridge over the Berg River. The bridge consists of two equal 35m continuous spans with a central pier. The super structure consists of 18 precast pre-stressed beams with a reinforced concrete deck. Precast panels were hung on the sides of the bridge deck as an aesthetic finish, giving it the appearance of a low arch structure. The bridge deck was widened over the central pier to form “viewing coves” for side walk users. Abutments were stone cladded for aesthetic purposes.
