Kwamashu was awarded in August 2021 with an estimated completion date in May 2026. This is a R1,5 billion upgrade of the N2 from the Kwamashu Interchange to the Umdloti River Bridge. The upgrade will involve widening of both carriageways over the 11 Km stretch, structural rehabilitation, bridge widening, electrical works and earthworks so as to accommodate the road widening.
