Bauba Resources Limited (“Bauba”) is a junior mining company of which Raubex acquired the majority share in January 2022.
Bauba has two operating mines, namely Moeijelijk Chrome Mine (“Moeijelijk”) in Limpopo province, South Africa and Nuco Chrome Mine (“Kookfontein”) in Rustenburg, North West province, South Africa.
Moeijelijk was established in 2015 as an opencast operation. The mine has since been transitioned to an underground operation where its first wash plant was commissioned in 2018, delivering a run-of-mine chrome-ore and concentrate chrome from its washing plant to all around the world.
In 2020, Bauba obtained a mining right for its Kookfontein Chrome Project. Kookfontein open cast chrome and PGM mine has since broken ground and operations have commenced.
Bauba conducts its operations through various outsourced service providers, which undertake on its behalf, the open cast mining, underground mining, processing, logistics and marketing.
Bauba has a number of prospecting rights that it is exploring; this has led to a number of initiatives and opportunity assessments with the objective being: purchase and acquire additional active mining operations and greenfield projects.

The company was founded in 1972 as a drilling and blasting entity in the Eastern Cape. SPH Kundalila was founded in Saldanha Bay in 1969, with just one wheel loader. By 1985 we had managed to expand from the Western Cape, into the Northern Cape and North West province, establishing our own Black Mountain Mine and our Goldfields operations at Anglo Gold’s Vaal River operation. In 2007, Raubex fully acquired SPH Kundalila.
SPH Kundalila has long-standing contracts and relationships with various mining houses in the gold, platinum and iron ore fields and has associations with Associated Manganese, ArcelorMittal, Goldfields, Kumba and Sibanye. The company is focused on providing comprehensive mining and materials handling solutions for mining projects. Capabilities cover a wide range of aspects, including primary crushing and screening, ore loading, hauling and rehabilitation.
Safety forms an integral part of SPH Kundalila’s operations and the company boasts a remarkable record in this regard.
